Are XS Blast Energy Drinks Caffeine-Free or Not? What Gives?

XS Blast Energy Drinks

XS® Blast Energy Drinks come in a variety of 12 choices, offering among those choices 11 amazing flavors. These drinks are a blast of flavor and energy. Made of juice, herbs, amino acid, vitamins and minerals; they are a great tasting blend of energizing ingredients.

These drinks are great little energy boosters, but for some there’s the need to know whether or not caffeine is an included ingredient. We all know of the need to be careful and diligent with a consistent practice of reading product labels and with these drinks you could do your due diligence by meticulously looking at the online descriptions of ingredients, but you’d still come away with an inaccurate picture of what you’d be buying.

At the time of the original date of publishing of this blog post (August 12, 2018) some of Amway’s online product descriptions for their 12 Blast drinks include statements that can lead shoppers to believe they are caffeine-free. Is this true? Usually it is; but as we shall see, it is not always the case.

The XS® Energy Drink in the Cranberry Grape Blast flavor is the one that is made without caffeine. Now let’s turn our attention toward how to avoid the confusion.

Be aware when you come across the online Blast drink product description stating the following caffeine-free claim…

“XS® Caffeine-free Energy Drinks use a proprietary blend of premium ingredients infused with powerful B vitamins to help your body unlock energy from food.”

While this caffeine-free claim is true for the one Blast drink that does not contain caffeine, this claim is included in the product description of some of the Blast drinks that do contain caffeine.

It appears as though this was not intentional, but rather a mistake, a simple “typo”. Large websites that contain a vast amount of information are prone to human error. We get it and that makes sense.

It is in an individual drink’s “Overview” description where it makes this “Caffeine-free” statement while in the same drink’s “More” description you can find a list of that drink’s ingredients that clearly lists Caffeine as an included ingredient. Additionally, in the drink’s “More” description you can find a “More Info” section that clearly states that some are caffeine-free while others are not?

It is unfortunate that Amway sometimes includes the blanket statement of caffeine-free status in its “Overview” description when the drink does contain caffeine because it is misleading and it is the description that is, by default of the website layout, the first description that shoppers see. To find the other statements it is incumbent upon the shopper’s thoroughness in “clicking around” to happen upon the further, product description options that tell the accurate (but confusing) story.

I’m sure, with time, Amway will get this cleaned up.

Until Then, Let’s Clear This Up Here

Here’s The Scoop On The Caffeine

For the XS® Energy Drink that does include caffeine, the amount included is equivalent to that which you would typically find in either a small cup of coffee or a standard sized cup of coffee. The amount of caffeine in the 8.4 ounce drinks are similar in caffeine content to a small cup of coffee while the 12 ounce drinks are similar to a standard cup of coffee.

The product descriptions state,

“All 8.4-ounce XS® Energy Drinks, except the caffeine-free flavors, have up to 83mg of caffeine. This is equivalent to a small cup of coffee. The 12-ounce XS® Energy Drinks contain up to 125 mg of caffeine and are comparable to a 12 oz. cup of coffee. “

When shopping, online or in a brick and mortar, if you make it a habit of reading product labels when what you are consuming matters, you can keep from purchasing something that isn’t what you thought it was.

For the most part, we’ve found Amway is very accurate in their product information. However, this one is confusing so we felt it important enough to attempt to clarify the caffeine status.

We hope this helps!
